Transforming a residential kitchen in Sunderland

A homeowner based in Sunderland approached us to completely refurbish his existing kitchen. The aim was to create a modern, functional space that would blend practicality with an updated, contemporary finish. The project required a full kitchen installation supported by electrical, plastering, and flooring works to deliver a cohesive, high-quality result.

The challenge

The kitchen required more than a simple refit. Once work began, it became clear that parts of the subfloor and joists were rotten and needed replacing.

Electrical issues were also identified, with faulty wiring that required sections of the system to be safely rewired before further progress could be made.

These complications demanded flexibility and careful coordination to ensure the renovation stayed on track and met high standards of safety and finish.

Despite the unforeseen structural and electrical challenges, our team managed the issues swiftly, coordinating trades effectively to maintain project momentum and quality.

Our process

We carried out a full kitchen installation over a ten-day period, including:

  • Electrical alterations and the installation of new downlights to improve illumination and energy efficiency
  • Ceiling plaster boarding and complete re-plastering for a smooth, modern appearance
  • Replacement of damaged flooring and installation of new LVT click flooring, offering durability and an elegant finish
  • Replacement of the existing radiator to match the updated layout and heating performance needs

The new layout features dark grey shaker-style cabinets, creating a sophisticated, grounding tone that instantly modernises the space. This is beautifully balanced by light wood-effect laminate worktops, which introduce warmth and texture to the overall design.

A matching wood-effect splashback ties the look together, providing a cohesive flow around the room and complementing the natural tones of the worktops. Smooth plastered walls and ceilings further enhance the finish, adding a crisp, polished look throughout.
